Children’s Library Unit

The Children’s Library Unit, established in 1996, was the first supportive service launched by the Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization. Its goal has always been to create a nurturing environment and improve the well-being of children with cancer and their families.

With a focus on boosting morale and promoting hope, this unit strives to create joyful and uplifting moments for young patients.

Until the end of 2019, the unit was based in Shohada-e-Tajrish Hospital. Alongside its regular activities, it welcomed children undergoing treatment in the hospital’s pediatric oncology ward, organizing a variety of events including health and wellness celebrations, birthday parties, and festivities for Yalda Night, Nowruz, and other occasions.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on in-person volunteer access to medical facilities, the unit’s activities shifted to remote engagement. During this time, communication with pediatric and hematology wards in university hospitals was maintained through ward supervisors and social workers. The Wishing Tree project was placed in these wards, allowing children to hang their wishes, which were then fulfilled through coordination with the hospital staff and the generous support of donors — including gifts such as New Year’s clothing and educational assistance.

The organization also extends its support to children from families where the primary breadwinner or a close family member is battling cancer. These children and teenagers, who are continuing their education at various levels, often face serious economic challenges alongside the emotional strain of illness in the family. They are in need of educational aid, school supplies, clothing, and other essential items.

The Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization is committed to easing the path of these young individuals by offering the support they need — paving the way for a brighter future where hope replaces worry, and dreams overcome limitations.
