The Social Work Unit is a bridge between cancer patients and the Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization. As a starting point, the organization’s social workers and specialists welcome cancer patients from all over Iran in the unit.
By carrying out the professional assessment and registration process, this unit is responsible for the amount and the type of support provided to cancer patients, based on professional criteria and consideration of their medical condition, livelihoods and family status during the patient’s treatment.
In addition to providing support services The Social Work Unit also serves as the organization’s means of communication with patients and strives to provide information to patients about their treatment journey. Additionally, this section aims to reduce the anxiety, stress and confusion of patients and their families with guidance and social interventions needed to seek support and receive help from the options available, including different types of insurance, complementary insurance and the ability to refer other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The Social Work Unit started its working since the foundation of the organization in 1379 (2000) directly at the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology of Shohada-e-Tajrish Hospital. In Mordad 1398 (August 2019), due to the increased number of patients and lack of space, and to provide better quality services and preserve the dignity of patients and clients, it was moved to a spacious space. We are now welcoming our clients at our new building on Shariati Street.
In addition, since 1393 (2014), this unit has been serving patients in the Oncology Department of Imam Hossein Hospital.
