Participation in Procuring a CT Simulator
Participation in procuring a CT simulator for the radiotherapy department of Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS) Hospital in Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

Following the need of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences and a request from the radiotherapy department of the specialized Ali Ibn Abi Talib Hospital in Zahedan regarding the completion of the required funds for purchasing a CT simulator, the Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization, with the approval of this project by technical experts, entered into a tripartite agreement to contribute to the provide resources for assisting in the purchase of the university’s CT simulator. The hospital committed that, after the purchase, the services provided by the CT simulator to patients and visitors would be calculated based on government rates.
On the 3rd of Bahman 1401 (23rd January 2023) the CT simulator, priced at 22,617,953,440 IRR, was delivered to the hospital by the board of trustees. The remaining amount of 8,937,953,440 IRR from the above funds was deposited by the Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization into the trustees account.
The CT simulator is currently in the hospital’s inventory, and after the completion of the room setup, it is scheduled to be operational in Ordibehesht (April) of the new year, benefiting cancer patients and the hospital’s medical staff.

Performing CT scans with this device before treatment for cancer patients requiring radiotherapy is a fundamental requirement in treatment planning.
The CT simulator device includes a CT scanner along with a flat table (similar to a radiation therapy table) and specific lasers for marking three-dimensional treatment design simulation.
Purchase of the CT simulator for the radiotherapy department of Ali Ibn Abi Talib Hospital in Zahedan enables providing higher quality and standardized services to cancer patients visiting this center.
Considering that this is the only center providing radiotherapy services to cancer patients in Sistan and Baluchestan Province (cities such as Zabol, Zahedan, Iranshahr, Saravan, etc.) and Afghan residents and immigrants in the province. The patients for radiotherapy services in this center are now accepted day to day.

The radiotherapy department of this hospital currently has an active bunker with a compact Elekta accelerator, a CT simulator ready for installation, and space for brachytherapy and chemotherapy.

The installation space for the CT simulator is specified and prepared. By launching the device in the New Year, increased capacity for accepting various patients due to the larger gantry diameter, easier patient positioning, high reconstruction power for images benefiting the physics and medical team, and assisting in adhering to cancer treatment standards for cancer patients in the region will be achieved.
